Brigadier General Colin Keiver
Brigadier – General Keiver was bit by the aviation bug at an early age. He was very active in Air Cadets and after almost four years in the Primary Reserve as an Infantry Officer with The Calgary Highlanders, Colin joined the RCAF in 1991. He was awarded his pilot wings in 1994 and began his long relationship with the C130 Hercules. This included six years with 435 Squ adron in Winnipeg, three years on exchange with the United States Marine Corps in Cherry Point, North Carolina and command of 436 Squadron in Trenton from 2010 – 2012. His final flight in a C130 was in July 2017 as he finished his tour as the 8 Wing Command er, Trenton. As a staff officer he has spent time in 1 Canadian Air Division HQ, two years on the Air Staff in Ottawa as Director Air Simulation and Training and a year as Director of Defence Programme Coordination in NDHQ. He has deployed extensively du ring his career including a six – month tour in Darfur, Sudan as the Air Operations Advisor to the African Union. Promoted to his current rank in Apr 2018, he was honoured to command Joint Task Force Impact, responsible for the CAF Counter – DAESH mission in t he Middle East, from June 18 to May 19. He assumed the roles and responsibilities of Director General Air Force Development in July 2019. Brigadier – General Keiver has a BA in Political Science, a Masters in Defence Studies concurrent with completing the J oint Command and Staff Program and is a graduate of the Royal College of Defence Studies in London, UK. He has almost 5000 hours of flight time in the C130 family of aircraft and is looking forward to breaking 10,000 hours of PowerPoint time. His wife and two children keep Colin grounded and he is incredibly grateful for their love and support through multiple deployments and moves.
